Biography

Cockrell School of Engineering

Ric has been a trainer in Yellow, Green Belt and Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and the Integrated Enterprise Excellence System at nationwide locations through Smarter Solutions, Inc. since 2010. In this role he has mentored and coached practitioners in fields including medical, manufacturing, government, project management, laboratories and education. He is a systems thinker and enjoys the whole picture approach to business needs of all types.

Ric served at West Virginia University at Parkersburg where he was an Instructional Specialist in Process Technology. He worked on development and delivery of training programs with the Work Force and Community Education Division where he also implemented an IEE (Integrated Enterprise Excellence) based system of operation. Through this program, Ric taught courses on leadership, team building, integrated math and business, and development of lean/5S programs in work place environments. At the academic level, Ric also taught courses in the Bachelor of Applied Technology program, Process Technology, OSHA 30 training and statistical process control.

Job leadership roles Ric has served in range from Process Control Supervisor, Technical Manager, Aluminum Plant Superintendent, Operating Superintendent, and interim Plant Manager.

The Department of Energy - Industries of the Future recognizes Ric in their Wall of Fame for his role as the chairman of the Technology Committee for the Aluminum Association.

Ric holds a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
