Personal profile

Research interests

My main research interests lie in prediction of corporate financial distress, impact of prudential regulation, derivatives usage, earnings, and econometric methodology. I am General Secretary and an Executive Trustee of the British Accounting and Finance Association - the national, and increasingly international, learned society for his subject area. Formerly, I was Head of Department of Accounting at the University of Exeter Business School and Head of the Accounting/Finance subject group at Aberystwyth University.

I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and, prior to my academic career, had twelve years’ experience in financial and professional services: with Ernst & Young; NatWest Group; and Accenture. I won the Henry Ford Scholar Award and an A T Kearney Prize for his MBA performance at Cranfield University / Carnegie Mellon University (USA).
