Wagner Graduate School of Public Service
Richard (Rick) Gannotta is currently the Chief Operating Officer for UCI Health (University of California Irvine). Prior to that appointment Rick served as the Senior Vice President for Hospitals at NYC Health and Hospitals. Previously he served in a number of executive positions in healthcare including President of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, President of Duke Raleigh Hospital, and has held various executive positions with WakeMed (Raleigh NC).
Dr. Gannotta’s areas of research interest include economic impact of alternative models of care, patient safety, high reliability systems and health care disrupters. Academic affiliations have included teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level as Duke consulting faculty.
Dr. Gannotta received his BSN and Nurse Practitioner from Florida International University, an MBA from Campbell University, and a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
