Research Expertise: Finance, capital market theory, monetary economics, management control systems, international finance and accounting An expert in international finance and trade, Professor Emeritus Richard Castanias focuses his research on corporate financial theory, resource economics, industrial organization, economics and financing of small firms, small business bankruptcy, small business valuation, informal capital markets, economics of executive compensation and succession, financing of cooperative organizations, economics of information and monetary economics. Castanias has published more than 20 major articles in leading academic journals and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for some 20 academic journals. He frequently presents at professional meetings and business community forums nationwide. Castanias has led student study trips to Chile, Brazil and Mexico and is an authority on the economics of these countries.
