Refilwe Mokoena is a development finance and monitoring and evaluation professional. She has accumulated over 10 years of experience leading and managing work relating to monitoring and evaluation as well as reporting systems. She currently leads the Graça Machel Trust’s impact strategy and monitoring & evaluation work in East and Southern Africa; across sectors including agri-business, entrepreneurship, health, financial inclusion and impact investing.
Before joining the Graça Machel Trust, Refilwe worked in microfinance and impact investing, including as a Senior Programme Manager for GreaterCapital where she collaborated with E.T Jackson & Associates and the Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results to deliver an Executive Workshop on evaluating impact investing in Africa.
Refilwe currently serves on the Board of Directors and Social Performance Committee of South Africa’s largest development microfinance institution, the Small Enterprise Foundation. She holds a BA in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts and is completing a Masters in Monitoring and Evaluation with the University of the Witwatersrand.
