Biography
Rajan Sambandam is Chief Research Officer and Partner at TRC, a custom market research firm located near Philadelphia. He has been a practicing researcher for two decades and has taught Marketing Research in Columbia Business School since 2013. Prior to that, he was a Knowledge Partner for the Yale Center of Customer Insights, at the Yale School of Management. He has conducted research for organizations in a variety of industries such as technology, healthcare, financial services, energy and CPG, working with Fortune 100 companies to start-ups.
His particular area of expertise is in new product development research (focusing on techniques like Conjoint Analysis). His research has been published in practitioner and academic journals, and he actively collaborates with faculty colleagues to translate academic research to practical applications. As a research practitioner, he strongly emphasizes the practical side in teaching, using learning-by-doing as a guiding philosophy in his classes.
Rajan has a PhD in Marketing from SUNY, Buffalo and an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India.
