Biography
American Association for Physician Leadership
Rachel Lovins is the chair of the Department of Medicine at Middlesex Hospital. A certified physician executive with a board certification in internal medicine, Lovins has more than 20 years of teaching and clinical experience and 15 years of leadership experience.
After attaining her Doctor of Medicine and completing her internship and residency at Yale University, Lovins quickly climbed the leadership ranks, taking a position as the director of the hospitalist program at Waterbury Hospital while simultaneously serving as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Yale. In 2009, Lovins was promoted to the associate chief of medicine. She served in this role until she was promoted twice more, eventually resulting in her current role as chair of the department.
Today, Lovins is a member of 15 professional committees, and is an experienced presenter. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated tremendous skill in resident education, program development, clinical care, communication, management, and leadership. She continues to utilize these skills throughout her many professional endeavors.
