Biography

Rachel Gifford is a scholar in Organization Studies and Healthcare Management. She completed her PhD in Organizational Behavior at the Business School at University of Groningen, with her PhD work focusing on the organization of professionals and professional work in complex organizations. In this work she explored challenges facing organizations when implementing structural changes, revealing the importance of relational and cultural dynamics when trying to implement organizational reform in healthcare. She carried over this work into her post-graduate research, focusing on how organizations and professionals respond to environmental uncertainty including under conditions of scarcity.

Rachel research interests include the evolution of professional work, managing uncertainty and change, and improving collaboration between healthcare professionals and organizations.
