Dr. Prafulla Y Agnihotri, Professor of Marketing & Strategy, IIM Calcutta and Founder Director of IIM Trichy, has been appointed as the Director, IIM Sirmaur with effect from May 17, 2022. Prof Agnihotri has taken charge as Director from his predecessor, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, who has completed her five year term as the founding Director of IIM Sirmaur. Sharing his vision for IIM Sirmaur, Prof. Agnihotri said, "My focus would be to bring IIM Sirmaur among the top 15 B - Schools in India as per the NIRF rankings in next five years, while constantly striving to enhance the academic and research excellence of the institute."

Dr Agnihotri has over thirty years’ experience in the industry - in sales, marketing and training as well as in academics. Dr Agnihotri’s academic journey started when he joined NMIMS Mumbai in 1996 after being a practicing manager for over ten years. In 2006, when he was the Head of Marketing Department at NMIMS, he moved to IIM Calcutta as a Professor in Marketing Group and was also IIMC Placement Head. Then, he was appointed as the Founding Director of IIM Tiruchirappalli from February 2011 till April 2017 and again remained associated with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta as Professor of Marketing before joining IIM Sirmaur as Director. Dr Agnihotri also launched Vijay Patil School of Management (VPSM) in Navi Mumbai as its Founding Dean.

Dr Agnihotri was also a visiting faculty with Euromed, Marseille Provence (an EQUIS Certified B-school), and CERAM, Sophia Antipolis, France. He has also co-authored a book titled Principles of Marketing with Dr Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong. He is also on the Board of SBI Mutual Funds as an Independent Director.

Dr. Prafulla Agnihotri holds a Master’s Degree in Management Studies (M.M.S.) from the University of Mumbai and Ph.D. in International Marketing Strategy area from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. Dr Agnihotri is confident and believes that quality always cuts the clutter. He said “I am confident that we will make a positive leap forward with renewed vigor to achieve the goals set out for us as an “Institute of National Importance”.

  • MBA with specialization in Marketing Management, from Chetana’s R.K. Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai (Bombay); Bachelor of Commerce
  • (B.Com) with specialisation in Financial Accounting and Auditing from the University of Mumbai;
  • Diploma in Training and Development from Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), New Delhi;Post-graduate Diploma in Import & Export Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Mumbai;
  • Certificate Course in Advanced Data Analysis for Marketing Decisions from IIM Ahmedabad.;
  • Completed the Basic and Advance labs and Phases A and B of the Professional Development Program of ISABS (Indian Society of Applied Behavioural Science), New Delhi.
