Former Role
Portia is a former member of CCL’s Executive Team and was responsible for leading CCL’s global branding and marketing and communications strategy. An accomplished team leader, Portia oversaw a team of 52 professionals within the Global Marketing group including the client services group and the global marketing communications and marketing strategy teams. Her role was to bring the voice of the client into CCL’s programs, products and services and position CCL as a thought-leader in the marketplace. As Chief of Staff, Portia supported the office of the President to manage the work of CCL’s Board of Governors, Executive and Management teams.
In addition to her role as SVP of Global Marketing and Chief of Staff, Portia was also a highly-rated feedback coach for CCL programs, where she was able to leverage her experience leading global teams and maximizing individual performance to support CCL program participants.
Experience
A veteran of the marketing and PR industries, Portia has an expertise in corporate reputation management, crisis and issues management, executive communications, brand management and leveraging social media to build client engagement. Prior to joining CCL®, Portia held senior management positions with Edelman Public Relations in Chicago and Burson-Marsteller in their New York and Shanghai, China offices. Portia has worked with a wide variety of Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries, including professional services, non-profit/NGO, financial services, pharmaceuticals, consumer products and technology.
Educational Background
Portia earned a B.A. in Visual Anthropology from Mills College, an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University. She is certified to deliver feedback in CCL-proprietary 360-degree assessments, Workplace Big Five 4.0 and other psychometric assessment instruments. Portia is a CCL-approved feedback coach.
Professional Affiliations
Portia maintains an active social media presence and is author of the popular blog Boss Mom (www.bossmomonline.com), a lifestyle and career advice blog for working mothers. She writes and speaks extensively on work/life issues for working women. Portia was designated by the United Nations Foundation as a national champion for the Shot@Life initiative, an effort to promote childhood vaccines in emerging countries.
