Biography

Polly Low went to Manchester High School, then Corpus Christi College, Oxford, then did a PhD in Cambridge, on interstate relations in fourth-century Greece; and was then W.H.D. Rouse Research Fellow in Classics at Christ''s College, Cambridge.  She has been Lecturer in Ancient History at Manchester since 2003. Her teaching and research focuses on Greek history and epigraphy: she is the author of Interstate Relations in Classical Greece (Cambidge University Press) and has edited or co-edited collections of essays on the Athenian Empire, the commemoration of war in the ancient and modern worlds, and the uses of inscriptions in ancient literature.  Her current projects include a monograph on Greek imperialism and (with Dr Peter Liddel) work on the Greek inscriptions in the collections of the National Museums, Liverpool.
