Jones Graduate School of Business

Piyush Anand is an assistant professor of marketing at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. His research examines how machine learning methods can enrich managers’ and regulators’ understanding of consumer and firm behavior. He employs methods from computer vision, natural language processing and machine learning to answer research problems of marketing relevance in topics such as e-cigarette taxes, consumer data privacy and corporate culture.

Piyush received his Ph.D. in 2021 from Cornell University. He is the recipient of the 2020 Vithala R. and Saroj V. Rao ISMS Doctoral Dissertation Award, and the 2019 Shankar-Spiegel Dissertation Proposal Award. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in management from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and a Bachelor of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Prior to academia, Piyush worked as a Category Manager at Amazon.
