Biography
Philipp Benedikt Becker joined the IOD as a research and teaching associate in November 2018.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Bonn before working for a management consultancy in Cologne and Stuttgart. He acquired, planned and managed over 30 projects in southern Germany focusing on production optimization and digitization.
Philipp earned his master's degree in "Management" from the WU Vienna and the Schulich School of Business in Toronto. After graduating best in class, he worked as Chief of Staff at the M&A boutique i5invest, which he left to pursue his PhD.
In his research, Philipp advances the behavioral perspective on strategic management by employing big data textual analysis. His papers address the role of the CEO´s cognition and attitude to better understand decision-making in strategic change and M&A.
Philipp presented his work at major international conferences like AOM, SMS, and EGOS. His new methodological approach to measure CEO mental models was nominated for the SMS Research Methods Paper Prize.
