Philip Kelly

Associate Dean for Research, Graduate and Global Affairs, Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change / Professor, Department of Geography at York University

Biography

My recent research has examined the labour market trajectories of Filipino immigrants and their children in Toronto, the transnational linkages forged with communities and families in the Philippines, and the process of socio-economic change in sending areas. Conceptually, I am interested in the interface between political economy approaches to class and labour markets, and cultural approaches that explore the intersection of class and other bases of identity. My current research project examines the potential of migrant social networks in the development of transnational alternative economic practices between Canada and the Philippines.
