Biography
Aalto University School of Business
My main activities are teaching and supervising students in their technical-scientifc thesis. Managing research projects and promoting innovative technological solutions is other significant part of my professional life. The main research and development field is “Thermomechanical Manufacturing Technologies” focusing Joining of Materials by Fusion and Solid State Welding Techniques. Other fields of activity are part of the core of an Engineering Materials Research Group, namely technologies related with welding, e.g.: cutting, marking, surfacing, processing and channeling; Non-destructive testing technology. Joining of materials by Adhesive Technology and Hybrid Techniques are also fields of interest.
BACKGROUND
I come from Portugal where I worked as Assistant Professor since 2003 and as tenured Professor since 2008 at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Instituto Superior Técnico (Technical University of Lisbon).
