Graziadio School of Business and Management
Dr. Gift earned a PhD in economics from UCLA, where he specialized in econometrics, industrial organization, and law and economics. His research interests are in the areas of sports economics (focus on MMA and the NBA), behavioral economics, antitrust, and financial markets.
Dr. Gift has served as a litigation consultant and management consultant for a wide variety of clients. As a litigation consultant, he provided expert witness support for antitrust and financial fraud cases involving monopolization, foreclosure, exclusive dealing, tying, bundling, horizontal price fixing, and estimation of economic damages. During this time, he worked on some of the largest antitrust cases in the United States. Dr. Gift has also worked as an economic advisor in the commercial real estate industry and as a consultant in digital engagement and direct marketing.
