Biography

Pablo Triana pursued graduate studies at NYU Stern (statistics, derivatives, math finance) and American University (macro-micro, development econ, development banking, intl finance). He has held several positions in the financial industry. His teaching experience includes IE Business School and Johns Hopkins University. Pablo Triana has written three books. The Number That Killed Us (Wiley, 2011) analyzes the role of the Value at Risk model in unleashing the 2007-08 crisis. Lecturing Birds On Flying (Wiley, 2009) discusses the effects that quantitative/theoretical models can have on real-life financial markets. Corporate Derivatives (Risk Books, 2006) deals with the use of derivatives by non-financial corporations. He has also authored scores of articles for practitioner-oriented publications, including The Financial Times (30 articles), BusinessWeek, Risk, and Yale Economic Review. Pablo Triana is contributing editor of Corporate Finance Review (edited by Thomson Reuters).
