Biography

Harvard Medical School

Nomi is an active clinical psychiatrist specializing in psychiatric consultation in medical settings and developing programs to bring a trauma informed perspective across care domains. Her overall effort is divided among clinical service, teaching, program development and research activities. Nomi currently serves as Associate Vice Chair, Ambulatory Services, in the Department of Psychiatry, overseeing outpatient psychiatric services across the Brigham Health system, and as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She serves also as co-Chair of the Mass General Brigham Trauma-Informed Care Initiative and as psychiatric consultant to the Critical Illness Recovery Program.

She previously served as a psychiatric consultant embedded within one of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) medical intensive care units and as the Division of Medical Psychiatry’s Liaison to the BWH Hospital Burn Program in the Division of Trauma, Burn and Surgical Critical Care service.

She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar Fellow 2018-2021.

Prior to joining Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Nomi served as Mental Health Director of the World Trade Center Environmental Health Center in New York City, and then as Associate to Head of Department of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rwanda, in a Human Resources for Health program through the Rwandan Ministry of Health.

Her abiding search is for interventions applicable to low-resource communities in both high and low-income countries to ensure that an individual’s engagement with medical treatment occurs in ways that optimize their long-term functional outcomes across the lifespan.
