Nicolò Bertani

Assistant Professor Nicolò Bertani, who joined CATÓLICA-LISBON’s faculty this year, has had his work recognized by the Decision Analysis Society (DAS) of INFORMS.

Nicolò, who received his Ph.D. in Decision Sciences from INSEAD, won the 2021 DAS Student Paper Award for his paper “Fast and Simple Adaptive Elicitations: Experimental Test for Probability Weighting”. A version of this paper is available on SSRN.

This paper proposes a fast and simple procedure for measuring decision models experimentally. The adaptive procedure “faithfully captures empirical regularities in probability weighting”.

In 2020, Professor Bertani placed third for the Data Mining Best Theoretical Paper Award, also from INFORMS, with his work “Joint Bottom-up Method For Hierarchical Time-series: Application To Australian Tourism”. The revised version of this manuscript is also available on SSRN.

Nicolò Bertani joined CATÓLICA-LISBON this school year as Assistant Professor of Operations and Information Management and Big Data Analytics. His research is concerned with statistical learning, developing models to work with big spatiotemporal or grouped data, and with individual decision making, exploring how we behave in the face of uncertainty.
