Professor Nursing Science at Erasmus MC

Biography

Monique van Dijk (1958) works as an Associate Professor Quality of Care and supervises PhD students with a medical, nursing and psychology background at the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital. She coordinates all nursing research in the departments Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care of the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital. In 2013 she was also appointed as Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town. She is specialized in research of pain and sedation assessment in preverbal and nonverbal patients. She also studies non-pharmacological interventions to reduce pain and distress. She has published over 100 peer reviewed manuscripts and supervised 14 PhD students so far.
