Biography
Macquarie Graduate School of Management
I’m a creative strategist and design thinking expert who gets hired to help people and companies think very differently about the Wicked, messy and often unsolvable problems they have. These might be large logistics projects that are derailing, anything to do with innovation or culture, issues such as branding or diversity, or basically any time there are a bunch of people butting up against each other and their systems trying to get something useful done, or trying to find a new way to be and think.
Something of a hybrid, I’ve done my 10,000 hours in the corporate minefields, and then again as an external consultant and as a practicing artist. It’s a combination that makes for great flexibility and pragmatism. I love working with strategy, teaching people to think differently, designing experience-led conferences and facilitating messy situations with well-meaning but warring stakeholder groups to create really constructive outcomes. I also teach at MGSM business school, and write, speak and teach on Design Thinking, Navigating Wicked Problems and Ambiguity, and Customer / Business Development Conversations.
Clients include; Essential Energy, CSIRO, Bayer, IAG, Bendigo-Adelaide Bank and Elsevier Publishing. My book “Wicked Wisdom: Creative approaches to impossible problems” is available now, and my new book “Navigating Wicked: A guidebook to taming the unsolvable messy problems that matter most” will be available soon.
