Miriam Krieger is an Air Force fighter pilot currently studying as a doctoral student in the Department of Government at Georgetown University. She is one of only two officers selected for the 2012 CSAF Captains Prestigious Ph.D Program, and is pursuing a Ph.D in International Relations with an emphasis on Security Studies. Her research interests include military diplomacy as a tool of foreign policy, military strategic culture, and deterrence theory. She is currently investigating the impact of US foreign military assistance on the civil-military constructs of recipient nations.

Captain Krieger, a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering and two Masters Degrees in London as a George C. Marshall Scholar: an M.A. in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and an MSc in Conflict, Security and Development from the War Department at Kings College London. During her tenure in London she worked with the International Institute of Strategic Studies and the US Department of State – Regional Security and Arms Transfer Department. She attended flight training at Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard AFB, TX and was selected for F-16 training at Luke AFB, AZ. Captain Krieger flew F-16s at Homestead ARB, FL as part of the Total Force Integration initiative where she advanced to four-ship flight lead and deployed to the Korean Peninsula as part of the Theater Security Package.
