Presentation

Michael Wessel is an Assistant Professor at Copenhagen Business School, Department of Digitalization. His current research focus is on digital platforms. On a macro level, he analyses their business models, the competition among them as well as their disruptive effects on existing industries. On a meso or micro level, he looks at specific platforms in order to understand how certain signals and behaviors of platform participants shape the dynamics within the digital platform. To do so, he blends traditional quantitative research methods with data mining and machine learning techniques.

Michael holds a doctorate in Information Systems (IS) from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany and a Master’s degree from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Decision Support Systems. He also presented his work at the major IS conferences and was awarded “Best Conference Paper Runner-up” at the ICIS 2014 in Auckland, New Zealand and “Best Full Research Paper” at the ECIS 2015 in Münster, Germany.
