Bio

Michael Mandel spent most of his professional career working in the non-profit sector as both a paid staff member and a consultant before entering academia.  As a paid employee, he has served as Development Director of the Community Food Bank (a senior management role), Director of Housing Services for the Primavera Foundation, Vice President of External Affairs for Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona (a senior management role), and Communications Director of the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault.  Michael launched a consulting practice, Mandel Management Solutions, in 2005. A Tucson resident since 2002, Michael was named one of the first (and youngest) Tucson “40 Under 40” young professional leaders in 2005 and has since won several other local awards for community service and advocacy.  As a volunteer on local boards of directors, he has served as chair of the Pima County/Tucson Women’s Commission and as vice president of SAMHC (Southern Arizona Mental Health Corporation, then Pasadera Behavioral Health Services).
