Michael Dardia is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.  He is also the Vice President for Finance at the New York Public Library, where he oversees the budget and finances for the system’s 88 branch libraries as well as the four research libraries. Prior to joining the library, he was Director of Research at the Citizens Budget Commission, a nonpartisan fiscal watchdog for New York City and State. For ten years, he was Deputy Director of New York City’s Office of Management and Budget, responsible for economic and tax revenue forecasts, economic analysis and oversight of the City’s housing and economic development agencies. Prior to joining OMB in 2004 he was Vice President at the Stanford University-affiliated SPHERE Institute, where he directed policy research for government clients on regional economics; public finance and taxation; and economic development issues. Earlier, he helped start up the Public Policy Institute of California, an endowed public policy research foundation, and was a consultant to the RAND Corporation and Moody’s Investors Service.

Dardia obtained his B.S. in Biological Sciences and M.S. in Policy Analysis and Management from Stony Brook University and his Ph.D. in Economics and Public Policy from the RAND Graduate School.
