Nanyang Business School
Dr. Zhao Meng is a visiting associate professor at the Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and a senior research fellow at the Nanyang Center for Emerging Markets. He served on the faculty at Renmin Business School and the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo. He was the founding director of the Yunus Center for Social Business & Microfinance, Renmin University of China. He holds a PhD in organization theory and strategy from the Said Business School, Oxford University. He was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University’s Philanthropy and Civil Society Research Center, and a visiting scholar at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Dr. Zhao is currently an editorial board member at Stanford Social Innovation Review Books and Social Enterprise Journal, and a researcher at Systems Change Observatory at Oxford’s Said Business School. He is the chief editor of Social Entrepreneurship book series published by Renmin University Press and Springer, with over ten thousand copies sold. His research on social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility has appeared on Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, Business Horizons, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, Journal of Asian Public Policy, Financial Times, etc.
In addition to research, he co-founded the China Social Enterprise Service Center, which runs a digital platform for nation-wide social enterprise certification. He is a major initiator of the Beijing Initiative on China Social Enterprise Development. This initiative consolidates the field and sets up a road map for social enterprise development in China.
Dr. Zhao's teaching interests include social entrepreneurship, strategy for creating shared value, ethical (authentic) leadership, corporate social responsibility, and business ethics. He has taught extensively in leading business schools in China, Russia, Singapore and the UK at undergraduate, MBA, EMBA and executive education levels, with consistently excellent teaching evaluations.
