Maxine Weisgrau received her PhD in anthropology from Columbia University in 1993. She has conducted fieldwork research in Rajasthan, India since the late 1980s, studying nongovernmental organizations and rural development programs in villages in and around the Udaipur District. Her teaching areas at SIPA include gender, development, and political participation.
Professor Weisgrau teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses at Barnard, Columbia, NYU and The New School focusing on gender, development, reproduction, tourism, and cultural anthropology.
