Biography

HEC Paris

Matthias EFING obtained his Ph.D. from the Swiss Finance Institute and the University of Geneva in 2016 and (a German equivalent of) a Master of Sciences in business administration from the University of Mannheim in 2010. He is also a research affiliate at the CEPR and the CESifo. His main research interests include financial intermediation and regulation as well as empirical corporate finance. He has published in the Journal of Financial Economics and in the Journal of International Economics. His research has been covered by International Banker, Le Temps, NZZ, 24heures, Die Bank, ifo Schnelldienst and VoxEU. His papers won the ESRB Research Prize in Memory of Ieke van den Burg 2016, the best paper award at the Paris December 2013 Finance Meeting, the Distinguished CESifo Affiliate Award 2013, and the SFI Best Paper Doctoral Awards 2012 and 2015. Matthias teaches corporate finance in the spring term.
