Matthew A. Seligman is a lawyer and legal scholar based in Washington, D.C. His legal practice focuses on Supreme Court litigation and election law. He is currently a Fellow at the Center for Private Law at Yale Law School.

In the fall of 2020, Matthew co-taught a seminar at Harvard Law School on disputed presidential elections with Professor Lawrence Lessig. He previously served as a Climenko Fellow and Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at the Cardozo School of Law. He has published scholarship in numerous law reviews, including the Stanford Law Review, the Michigan Law Review, and the Vanderbilt Law Review En Banc.

Prior to his teaching appointments, Matthew practiced at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans, & Figel P.L.L.C. While at Kellogg Huber, his practice focused primarily on representing plaintiffs in civil litigation before the Supreme Court of the United States. Those cases included representing the European Union in R.J.R. Nabisco v. European Community, representing mortgage borrowers in Jesinoski v. Countrywide Home Loans, and representing workers at meatpacking facilities in Tyson Foods v. Bouaphakeo.

Matthew clerked for the Honorable Douglas H. Ginsburg on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He received a J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he participated in the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic; a Ph.D. in Philosophy from New York University, where he focused on moral and political philosophy; and undergraduate degrees from Stanford University, where he majored in mathematics and philosophy.
