Martin Wallmeier graduated in 1992 from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster with a degree in Business Administration. In 1997 he obtained his PhD from the University of Augsburg with a dissertation on return anomalies in stock markets. The habilitation followed in 2002, also at the University of Augsburg, with a thesis on option prices and implied price processes. Since October 2002 he is Professor of Finance and Accounting at the University of Fribourg. He declined the offer of a W3 professorship in finance at Freie Universität Berlin in 2009. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Dayton/Ohio (2007) and the Université Laval/Québec (2014).
