Dr. Laplante has a B.A. in economics and received his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Washington. It was there that he met his wife, who is an accounting professor. He was an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Dallas researching mutual fund performance, the distributional properties of asset returns, and working capital management. He left the research track to join his wife and start a family at the University of Georgia. His career is now devoted to teaching. He has experience teaching Corporate Finance, Derivatives, International Finance, Microeconomics, Accounting and Finance for Non-Business Majors, and Asset Pricing Theory. His efforts in the classroom have garnered numerous teaching awards at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Recently, he has been focused on delivering high educational outcomes to hundreds of students studying business each semester.
