Biography

Mark Alford is a clinical professor and director of the Master of Science in Accountancy Program. Alford ​has been a member of the faculty in the School of Accountancy & MIS since 2003.

Alford holds BBA, MBA and PhD degrees from Texas A&M University. Prior to moving to the Chicago area, he held faculty positions at the University of Houston and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Alford is the director of the Masters of Science in Accountancy (MSA) Program. He teaches undergraduate courses, as well as the MBA and MSA programs. His primary teaching interests include financial and managerial accounting, as well as accounting education related topics. He has published numerous articles in leading journals, including Issues in Accounting Education, Accounting Horizons, The Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, and The CPA Journal.

For several years he has taught the capstone course in the undergraduate program in accountancy and now teaches the capstone course in the MSA program.
