University of Miami Business School
Marina McCarthy is an Assistant Professor in the University of Miami Herbert Business School. She teaches courses in management disciplines including principles of management, organizational behavior and human resources. Prior to joining UM, Marina taught at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL and at Rutgers Business School in New Jersey. Dr. McCarthy’s research interests include creativity and innovation with a specific focus on cross-cultural cognitive differences and their effect on innovative process and performance. Marina has presented her research at major academic conferences in the US and abroad. Marina's corporate career includes 15 years of experience in roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck Pharmaceutical, and Genzyme Genetics. Over the course of her tenure, Marina has worked across a broad range of functional areas, including sales and marketing, operations, research and development, finance, human resources, and shared services. As an internal consultant, she had an opportunity to coach Sr. Managers on the design and deployment of major strategic initiatives as well as on-going process improvement efforts.
Marina earned a B.A. in Journalism from Moscow State University, MA in Slavic Literatures from University at Albany (SUNY), MBA in Human Resources from University at Albany (SUNY) and Ph.D. in Management from Rutgers University of New Jersey.
