Biography

Maria Elena D'Amelio is professor of Media and Gender Studies in the Department of Humanities. She is currently PI of the department project "Multimedia Archive of San Marino Memories"; previously she participated in the international research projects "DETECt - Detecting Transcultural Identity in European Popular Crime Narratives," funded by the EU under Horizon 2020 and "Challenges to Democracy and Social Life in European Small States," Erasmus+ (KA2-KA204) European Union (2018-2021). She collaborated on the national research project (PRIN 2015) "Comizi d’amore. Il cinema e la questione sessuale in Italia (1948-1978)”, funded by MIUR. She is a member of the Memory Research Center (UNIRSM - UNIBO) and co-directs the series Senso e Cultura (Il Mulino). She is also member of the interdepartmental group L.E.I. – Gender Identity Lab. She mainly works on film and media history from a cultural studies perspective, stardom studies, gender studies and media feminist theories, transnational television seriality, and digital media. As the Rector's Delegate for International Relations, she is in charge of University internationalization and coordinates the Research Center for International Relations.
