Dr. Margarita Mayo is Professor of Leadership and Organizational Psychology at IE Business School in Madrid since 2000, and now, transforming organizations as a Keynote Speaker listed in the Thinkers 50 Radar, considered the Oscars of Management Thinking by Financial Times. She is an award-winning Author of Yours Truly: Staying Authentic in Leadership and Life (Bloomsbury, 2018) at the 2019 Business Book Awards in the United Kingdom.

She studied a BA in Psychology (Valedictorian) at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid, where she earned a Fulbright scholarship to continue her postgraduate studies in the United States. In her eight years in the United States, Margarita flourished in the stimulating environment, and completed a M.A. in psychology at Clark University, with a specialization in work psychology. When Harvard Business School merged with the Psychology Department, she was offered the opportunity to join the one-year full-time Fulbright Scholar program to work with distinguished professors from the Human Relations movement like Chris Argyris and Richard Hackman that became her mentors.

Margarita is particularly fascinated by the impact of leadership styles on how people feel and behave at the workplace, and she completed a PhD in Management from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her thesis on the psychology of leadership was the finalist in the Best Dissertation National Award in the United States.

Over 25 years, Dr Mayo has presented her research at international conferences worldwide, and her articles have appeared in publications such as Harvard Business Review and Financial Times as well as in top academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Organizational Research Methods, Human Resource Management, and the Leadership Quarterly. She has been a visiting professor at some of the world´s leading business schools, like the Ivey School of Business in Canada, ESMT in Berlin and Lancaster University in the UK.
