Biography

Bentley University

Marco Marabelli is currently a Professor of Computer Information Systems at Bentley University, where he specializes in teaching graduate courses on business analytics and Ph.D. classes on information systems theories and qualitative methods.

His research is primarily focused on exploring the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) implications arising from the utilization of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and the metaverse, within both organizational and societal contexts. He also investigates the underlying factors contributing to institutional inertia in addressing potential algorithmic misuses. Currently, he is deeply engrossed in studying automatic decision-making processes led by algorithms within large organizations and the adverse effects these processes can have on underrepresented populations.

In addition to his work on emerging technologies, he is intrigued by the future deployment of the metaverse. He delves into topics concerning privacy implications associated with metaverse platforms and their potential to exacerbate surveillance and discriminatory practices. Over the past three years, he has also conducted extensive research related to the COVID-19 pandemic, examining issues like disparities in access to care in the United States and the unequal distribution of vaccines both domestically and globally.
