Biography

In November 2009 I joined the WMIC where I am working as a Research fellow in Radiosynthetic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry. I was worked in the department of Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA as a CRUK-Research Fellow. My work receives support from the CRUK-EPSRC. In 2009 I was awarded a PhD and an MPhil in 2006 by the University of Manchester, Manchester. During that period I was interested in synthesis of optical imaging probes for molecular imaging under the supervision of Dr Sally Freeman. In 2006 I was awarded Overseas Research Studentship and University Research Studentship for 3 years by the University of Manchester.

Prior to moving to the University of Manchester in 2005, I spent 4 years as a process development chemist under the supervision of Prof K K Balasubramanian in a Pharamceutical R&D centre of a leading pharmaceutical company involved in synthesis of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s) and custom synthesis. I worked for 18 months in a pharmaceutical research institute involved in the isolation of bioflavanoids.

I graduated BPharm from Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai (Madras), India.
