CBS Executive

Lydia Bals is a full professor of Supply Chain & Operations Management at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, Germany. Since 2008 she is a Visiting Scholar at the Department for Strategic Management and Globalization at Copenhagen Business School. She obtained her Doctoral Degree from EBS European Business School, Germany and made research visits at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at Columbia Business School, Columbia University, United States.

Until end of 2013 she was Head of the Department Procurement Solutions (e.g. Procurement Strategy, Controlling, Source2Contract and Purchase2Pay Processes, Methods, Tools & Systems; Benchmarking and Excellence) at Bayer CropScience AG Global Procurement. Moreover, she was steering the international Procurement Solutions network in Germany, United States, France, India, China and Brazil. Prior to that she worked as a Project Manager at Bayer Business Consulting, Germany, the in-house consulting unit of Bayer, driving projects in the functional areas of Sales, R&D, Controlling and Procurement in various countries (e.g. Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, Italy and France).

She has published in the Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of International Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management and other academic outlets.
