Biography

IE Business School

Three things make a good executive stand out. The first is his ability to think and have a long term view, the second is his global business vision, whether he is the CEO or the manager of a specific department, and the third is his ability to make things happen”. The philosophy behind these words has been the driving force behind Professor Miravitlles’ professional and academic career from the beginning. His experiences, first as operations manager for a biotechnology firm and later as a consultant for The MAC Group, have placed Professor Miravitlles in direct contact with the most advanced operations management skills, techniques and tools in both Japan and the United States.

In late 1989, he joined the faculty at IE Business School, combining his academic activities with his professional consultancy practice. Ever since, and without interruption, Luis Miravitlles has taught courses in MBA, MBAP, Executive MBA and E-Operations Management programs, as well as many industry-specific and in-company programs. Meanwhile, he has produced over thirty publications, including case studies, technical notes, articles and books, in fields as diverse as technical innovation, quality, TPM, logistics, SCM, lean manufacturing, and others.

As an executive and consultant, he has directed numerous projects, applying his skills to companies in the automobile, graphic arts, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, electronics, hospitality, insurance and audiovisual service industries, among others. The evaluations that Professor Miravitlles receives from his students place particular emphasis on the practical focus of his courses.
