Biography

IE Business School

Luis Maldonado has developed his entire career in the fields of economics and finance, where he has held senior positions both in the public sector, he was advisor to the Minister of Finance in Spain, and in the private sector. He has an extensive experience in consulting, he was Director of Strategic Consulting for the Financial Sector at PwC in Spain, as well as in the financial industry.

He has also a long international experience. He worked for five years at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in Washington DC, where he held different positions, as advisor to the Managing Director and in the Monetary and Financial Markets Department.

More recently, he was Managing Director of the PwC-IE Business School Financial Sector Center, where he did an extensive work of publishing and business development in Spain and Latin America in key strategic areas for the financial sector, with a special focus on FinTech.

He was also founding partner of an IT firm specialized in Big Data & Analytics.

Currently, he works as a professor at IE Business School and as a Consultant specialized in Digital Financial Services and Sustainability for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank, among other institutions.
