- Prior to his appointment as Chief Risk Officer and Member of the Management Board of BGL BNP Paribas, Luc has been the CEO of Fortis Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong from January 2007 to July 2010. His mandate was to reorganize and energize the pan-Asian Business operations. His most significant contribution was to establish and chair the Fortis Asia Pacific Management Board in order to achieve greater cooperation and maximize business opportunities across Asia. During his tenure, both top and bottom line results of Fortis Asia Pacific registered strong improvements despite a tumultuous external environment.
- After the dismantling of Fortis and the sale to BNP Paribas in the midst of the financial crisis, he continued to supervise the banking activities of Fortis in Asia and was instrumental in the integration process of the Business lines and Support functions of Fortis Bank Asia into BNP Paribas Asia. From May 2009 to July 2010, Luc chaired the BNP Paribas Asia Integration Steering Committee, the governing body that managed the integration of both banks in the region.
- Before moving to Hong Kong, Luc was the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of Fortis Group based in Brussels, Belgium, and Utrecht, theNetherlands. He started in his CRO role at the Group level in November 2000 and was appointed CRO of Fortis Bank in April 2001 and of Fortis Insurance in May 2004. He held all three positions up to December 2006, thus being responsible for the full spectrum of risks across bank and insurance for the Fortis Group.
- Luc has held posts at Generale Bank as Treasurer and Chief Dealer inJapan and as Global Head of ALM before moving to the Credit Department as Project Director where he spearheaded the business process re-engineering of the Global Credit Department. In December 1998, he became a member of the Credit Management Board of Fortis Bank following the acquisition of Generale Bank by Fortis. In November 1999, he moved to the Fortis Group headquarters to develop an internal risk, capital, and value management framework for the entire Fortis organization (banking and insurance).
- Luc is currently on the Board of Directors of the Shenergy Group Finance Company (which serves as an internal bank for the Shenergy Group, a leading energy and utility company in the greater Shanghai area) and of SOPARTEC (which helps the spin-offs of the Catholic University of Louvain in commercializing the transfer of their technologies through industrial licenses and financial investments).
