Presentation

My research interests are corporate communication and cultural globalization - with a focus on Japan. Through in-depth interviews (more than 250), I have studied how managers perceive the challenges of managing in culturally diverse settings from headqarters to subsidiaries. The outcome is corporate cases and methods for intercultural communication that will enhance managers'' and business school students’ ability to interact effectively across cultural, professional and national borders. Recent globalization projects include Leadership, Organization and Competence LOK (2004-6) and Cultural Intelligence as a strategic resource in multicultural teams (2008-11) both funded by the Danish National Strategic Research Council. My recent project on Team Organization, Communication and Competence (2014-15) includes a year of field work in Tokyo - as a Japan Foundation Research Fellow at Hitotsubashi University - doing research in successful sustainable transnational corporations.
