Biography
Stephen M. Ross School of Business
Laurie Siegel, a Human Resource executive and Board Director, was the Chief Human Resource Officer at Tyco International from 2003-2012. She joined the company as part of a new leadership team charged with restoring the company's reputation, financial health, and governance practices following the conviction of the previous CEO and CFO. With 240,000 employees around the globe, Siegel had responsibility for rebuilding the leadership team, executing a strategy to restore the confidence of the company's employees and building an HR function with deep expertise in global human resource practices. During Siegel's tenure at Tyco, the company executed two complex spin outs, resulting in the formation of five separate, publically traded companies, each led by executives groomed in the Tyco succession planning process. Siegel is a Director of CenturyLink, an $18 billion broadband, telecommunications and data hosting company. As Chair of the Compensation Committee of the Board, she has instituted many design and governance changes to support the company's growth strategy. Siegel also serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of New Jersey and has been an active board member at the Cornell Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies, Rutgers Business School and the Human Resources Policy Association. Siegel was elected a Fellow of the National Association of Human Resources in 2008. Siegel's prior experience includes eight years in various human resource leadership roles at Honeywell, leading executive compensation at Avon Products, and management consulting. Siegel has a Master degree in Business Administration and a Master degree in City and Regional Planning, both from Harvard University. She completed her Bachelor degree at the University of Michigan. Siegel has been involved in both executive education and teaching at the University level covering topics including human resource management, executive compensation, corporate governance and leadership succession planning.
