Biography

Born in Tunis, Laurent Maruani holds an M.Sc. degree from HEC, a BA from Paris VII and also a degree in Economics from Paris IX.

After having worked for several ministries, for the European Union and the French Presidency, he became a Professor for the HEC Group in 1979, for which he currently serves as Coordinator for the Marketing Department. He teaches in France, at Ecole Polytechnique, ENPC, and abroad (USA (UCLA), Russia (Saint-Petersburg) Lebannon, Viêt-Nam, Serbia.
He was responsible for the Commission and of the « Energy d''Entreprendre » Forums in charge of the Bicentenary of the creation of the CCIP, and has contributed to many economic missions of public interest in France and with the European Commission.

He is in charge of several specific corporate programs at HEC Paris, and has acquired expertise in the fields of energy, health, distribution, the media as well as the areas of pricing strategy and entrepreneurship. He is a member of the CCIP/HEC Entrepreneur Chair and teaches the following specialised courses : « Strategic Marketing », « Pricing Strategy », « Talent Management » and « Money and Image ».
Laurent Maruani acts as a special consultant for international corporation managers, and is the French member of the international Jury for the « Chief Marketing Officer of the Year » award.
He is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Management and Reading Committee of the International Journal of Marketing Education, and writes regular editorials for the French daily paper La Croix. He has published several books and nearly 200 articles.
His current research interests include "Diversity as a success factor for setting up technological firms" and « Markets and Human Rights ».
He has received the titles of Officer of the National Order of Merit and Chevalier de la Légion d''Honneur.
