Laura Wellman

Laura Wellman is an Assistant Professor of Accounting. Prior to joining the David Eccles School of Business, Professor Wellman was a lecturer at the University of Illinois – Chicago and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Prior to academic employment, Professor Wellman worked in public accounting for RSM McGladrey. Her research focuses on the flow of political information to various economic actors. She has published articles in such journals as The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, and Journal of American Taxation Association, and she referees for the leading accounting journals. Her current research interests are in the area of political information, whether firms are able to gain differential access to political information, and the benefits that they enjoy from differential access to political information. Professor Wellman teaches Financial Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant (Arizona, inactive). She received her Ph.D. in Accounting from Arizona State University.
