Jones Graduate School of Business

Laszlo Tihanyi is a Professor of Strategic Management in the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. He received his Ph.D. from Indiana University. Before joining Rice, he was the Roberts Chair in Business at Texas A&M University. He held visiting positions at Duke University, Indiana University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the University of Groningen, and the University of Melbourne. His main research areas are corporate governance in multinational firms, internationalization, and organizational adaptation in emerging economies. His current research explores the involvement of institutional investors in foreign direct investment, the institutional environment of internationalization decisions, and the effects of social movements on multinational firms. His papers have been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, and others. He is currently serving as the Editor of the Academy of Management Journal.
