Overview

Krassimira Paskaleva''s research interests and expertise are in the area of Smart cities – innovation, governance and sustainability; E-Service innovation; Innovation management, Open innovation; Open Government; Evaluation; Participatory governance and multi-stakeholder engagement. She supervises MSc IME students in these fields. 

Dr. Paskaleva''s research interests are in the area of innovation and the changing relationships between technology, people, governance, sustainability and urban transformation.

 

Biography

Krassimira Paskaleva is a Senior Research Fellow with the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research at the Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. She conducts cross-disciplinary research on digital society, innovation, public services, governance, sustainability and smart cities. Dr. Paskaleva was previously a Senior Research Scientist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany.

Dr. Paskaleva has held visiting positions at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (FZK) (Germany), the Victoria Management School, Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) and Macalester College (US). During 1989-1991 she completed a Post Doctoral Programme in Regional Science at the Regional Research Institute in West Virginia University, Morgantown (USA). From 1991 to 2000, Dr. Paskaleva was a Senior Researcher with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (USA). She has also offered courses in her subject areas at University College London (UK), Turin Polytechnics (Italy) and University of Naples (Italy). Between 2008 and 2011, Dr. Paskaleva taught a course on innovative e-services and governance at the UNESCO World Heritage Master Course in Turin, Italy. Paskaleva is fluent in English, Bulgarian and Russian and has conversational skills in German.

Dr. Paskaleva holds a Ph.D. in Regional Systems Modeling from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the BA/MA in Economic Geography from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria.
