Biography

The UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School

Konstantinos (Kostas) Stouras is Assistant Professor of Operations Management at UCD, Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. He lived and worked in Greece, France, Singapore, USA and Ireland.

Konstantinos received BS/MSc degrees in Applied Mathematics and Physics, and in Financial Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and after working as an Actuary for Prudential he also received MSc/PhD degrees in Operations Management from INSEAD. His research and teaching focuses on business model innovation and crowdsourcing marketplaces, and he worked on these topics with several companies including the work-from-home call center LiveOps.com, BVLGARI, Liddle, DHL, and the ad revenue management start-up Voiro.com.

In addition to his academic and consulting engagements, Konstantinos is passionate about entrepreneurship. He founded www.OperationsAcademia.org in 2014 which is currently being used by 200+ universities worldwide to facilitate advertising positions and hiring faculty in Operations and Analytics. He continues to actively engage with start-ups as a technical advisor and mentor.

Prior to joining UCD, Konstantinos spent two years at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow working on open innovation. He is a Board Member of the TIMES community of INFORMS and his research has appeared in prominent management journals including Management Science, Harvard Business Review and the Proceedings of ACM Electronic Commerce.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Design of markets with endogenous entry and applications in innovation, services, transportation and retail.
