Biography

Professor Whalen joined the Valparaiso University faculty in 2010.

As the health sciences librarian, Kim is the liaison to nursing, healthcare leadership/administration, health sciences, kinesiology, physician assistant, public health, and occupational therapy. Kim participates in one-on-one information literacy consultations, group instruction, reference assistance, collection development, and outreach.

She is also the library's Candid Funding Information Network supervisor and librarian for foundation focused philanthropy and grant seeking resources and programs.

Prior to joining the Christopher Center Library team, Kim was a librarian for the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Career Resource Centers, a science and business librarian at Purdue University Calumet, a knowledge manager for Grenzebach Glier & Associates, and a business librarian for Emory University. Kim also spent over 10 years in marketing and communications, fund raising, and alumni relations positions within Chicago area non-profits.
