Biography

Kim Caplan is the Real Estate Controller at Manhattan West where she is tasked with overseeing the Real Estate team’s accounting for all real estate investments and their related entities. Ms. Caplan’s focus is on providing a foundation for future growth by utilizing a hands-on financial management approach on each asset. She takes a top-down approach to provide transparency in order to maximize growth potential for each asset.

Ms. Caplan has over a decade of experience in audit and accounting with a primary focus on the real estate industry. Ms. Caplan has spent extensive time performing full-cycle real estate reporting on behalf of Institutional General Partners, LP investors and family office fiduciaries. She handled all aspects of reporting, guarantor reporting obligations, and joint venture reporting. Ms. Caplan’s focus has been predominantly on multi-family, office, and ground up construction. Prior to joining Manhattan West, she served as a Finance and Accounting Manager on AECOM’s corporate controllership team where she managed the quarterly SEC filings on behalf of their global, Fortune 500 engineering, design, and construction company. Additionally, Ms. Caplan worked for Ernst and Young’s assurance practice, predominantly in the real estate sector with a wide array of clients and exposure to S-X, IPO filings.

Ms. Caplan received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Master of Accounting from the University of Southern California. Additionally, she is a Certified Public Accountant. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ms. Caplan enjoys travel and adventure, along with hiking, reading, running, and hot yoga.
